Second blast from the Lessizmore Overview series, 3 strikes including a special delivery from Butane, only available in the EP version!

Mathias Kaden’s „Maraka“ positions itself in the previously released EPs „Lucidas“ / „Myal“. The Multi-layered approach, continuously hypnotic melodies and sparse congo-driven groove form together the three pillars of the track. It’s all an atmospheric affair, bringging the audience much far from the nowadays usual perky, stripped-down sounds.

The A side also features an exclusive track from St. Louis techno producer Butane. A dubby and detail-oriented minimal excursion, digging in the same direction as in his freshly released „Becoming“ LP. However „Into The Abyss“ reveals in its end an unexpectedly positive mood.

On the B side, Permanent Mountain is an act of seductive simplicity, another masterpiece from Hello?Repeat high profile producer Daze Maxim. A strong peak time track and stylistic exercise at the same time, mixing his unique sleazy funkyness with a precise rhythmic mecanism.

These three tracks definitely come within the scope of a post-minimal trend.

"Zum zweijährigen Bestehen feiert die Künstleragentur Lessizmore sich selbst und ihr Schaffen auf einer Geburtstags-Compilation, die sich wirklich mehr als sehen lassen kann. Kurz zur Erklärung: Die Lessizmore-Partys, die seit etwas mehr als zwei Jahren monatlich in Paris und Brüssel stattfinden, haben sich über ein ausgesprochen exquisites Händchen in der Auswahl der musikalischen Gäste mittlerweile den Status des Legendären erarbeitet. Wie der Name schon vermuten lässt, wird dabei eleganter Reduktionismus zum Prinzip erhoben, was sich auch ohne weiteres auf diesen Überblick übertragen lässt, der eine Selektion der Künstler, die bereits auf den Partys gespielt haben, mit jenen des hauseigenen Labels und der Booking Agentur vereint. Minimal is the buzz word here, but from the opening refrains of Junction SM`s "Radio Calypso", you know this isn`t your standart Berlin-centric affair. Oozing psychedelia and funk at every turn, the whole compilation has a fresh tang to it, avoiding the obvious pitfalls and injecting soul into the grooves without turning melancholic (as much "soulful" minimal tends to). Yapacc turns in something almost jaw-dropping, with Celtic jig of a violin wrapping itself around a crisp funk b-line and coming off irresistible. Pierre`s mix is much deeper affair, aiming straight to the dancefloor hypnosis department, but the real fun is to be found on disc 2.
